    For Sale Woodrat WR600

Thanks for the comments. I was hoping for a local collection, only because I prefer doing things face to face, then both of us can make sure we're happy before anything changes hands. I'll probably leave it a few days, but then if no one is interested I'll box it up and be open to shipping it...

Making a raised workboard - help retaining flatness?

If you do want to go the whole hog, Marc Spagnuolo did a great video on torsion boxes: http://www.thewoodwhisperer.com/videos/episode-18-assembly-table-torsion-box/

Looking for someone to make a front door for a mate

Yeah, I did point cost thing out to him, but he wanted a quotes anyway. Sorry if that wasn't clear - he's in Croyden. Alternatively, if anyone knows any local joinery firms that specialise in doors then that would be a big help too.

Looking for someone to make a front door for a mate

I friend at work ordered one of these doors: http://www.distinctivedoors.co.uk/products/344-keepers-corner-oak Only to be told that the correct size was out of stock and there was no way they would be able to get one. Trouble is, he's now dead-set on this design, but it's a bit beyond me to...

    Yet another Rutlands rant

I also recently bought a SIP 01332, but I decided to get it from yandles instead of rutlands because I thought they would have better customer service. How wrong I was. They gave me a date, I stayed in all day waiting for it and it didn't turn up. When I phoned them, they said "oh yes, the...

    Tom's Tool Chest - Finished!

No, it's this stuff: As is, it's pretty gloopy, so combine that with my rubbish technique and I was never really happy with it. For the chest, I thinned it 50/50, gave it about 3 coats, cut back, then gave it 2 more coats of 70/30. Each coat was applied with kitchen roll (being careful to...

    Tom's Tool Chest - Finished!

The plan is actually to build a workbench to house it, but you're right, everything else is looking decidedly shabby by comparison now

Not long! I tidied them especially for the photos, and they could use a good hoover too :)

    Tom's Tool Chest - Finished!

Right, firstly, apologies for the lack of updates. For some reason, the last bit of a project always goes slowly for me, but anyway, it's finished! After appealing for help on the round forum, Maltrout512 very kindly agreed to turn me the knobs from african blackwood. I have to give him full...

    Calling Wizer..calling Wizer...

I'm coming to this a little late, but another alternative if you don't have a memory stick handy is to find another machine with cd drive and share it over the network. That way you can just access it from the netbook as though the remote one was it's own.

Can someone turn me some knobs?

Thanks to all the people who PMed me - the generosity from forum members never ceases to amaze me :) I think I've got it sorted now - keep an eye on the projects section to see how it turns out. Cheers -Tom

    Tom's Tool Chest - Finished!

I do really like the idea of a push to open mechanism, but I'm not sure the hardware exists to do it in the space I've got available. I think I'll go with the turned knobs - I made a post over in the turning forum asking for a friendly turner to make some for me.

Can someone turn me some knobs?

Cheers for the link, but none of them really fit the bill - I was after something made from ebony or blackwood. Also, I wanted them to decrease in size going up the drawers, but the shops have a pretty limited range of sizes. :(

Can someone turn me some knobs?

Hello round-minded people. Over in the flat projects section, I've been working on a new tool chest: https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/tom-s-tool-chest-t37860.html And I'm at the stage where I need some handles. Originally I was going to make something carved, but I've come to the...

    Tom's Tool Chest - Finished!

Yeah, I love Waka's tool chest. It's properly inspirational and I think the handles are just right. If there are any turners out there who could to do me a big favour then send me a pm :)
