    symptoms of worn brushes

I was using my circular saw today when it started to make a strange noise it sounded a bit like spluttering and some sparking was coming from the motor, other than that it is working ok. Is this the first symptom of worn brushes or does it sound more serious?

    fitting a bigger blade

I have tried to fit the 280mm blade, it looks like the riving knife needs re-shaping or replacing, as the saw is brand new I would rather fit a replacement does anybody have a source for a riving knife or the metal to make one? It's a Axminster AW10BSB2 by the way.

    fitting a bigger blade

I have a table saw which takes 255mm blades and has a 3HP motor, I would like to fit a larger blade and have found a source of cheap good quality blades but they are 280mm, assuming that the blade can be fitted to the saw is there any real reason why it's not a good idea to fit a blade larger...

    planer knife setting jig

I also set the blades level with the outfeed table, the instructions that came with the planer suggest setting them higher but this let to terrible snipe so I re-set them level

    Multi function tools

I haven't used this but it looks underpowered, it only has a 1 HP motor which would I think struggle to cut anything over 50mm.

    16 amp upgrade

I'm not sure why it's only a 16 amp breaker maybe because there is only 6 double sockets fitted. The sockets are definitely wired with 2.5 mm cable so should be able to take a higher rated one without any problem

    16 amp upgrade

This is what I shall do also It will depend on whether the table saw and the dust extractor will run at the same time without continually tripping the breaker in the consumer unit. the consumer unit has a 16 amp breaker (type b)fitted for the socket ring at the moment do you think this will cope?

    16 amp upgrade

The supply cable is not armoured it's normal grey twin & earth the same as cooker cable

    16 amp upgrade

The saw I'm getting is a Axminster AW10BSB2, it has a 16 amp plug fitted I will try to run it on a 13 amp socket via an adapter and see how it goes, my metabo spindle moulder has the same size motor which runs ok on 13 amp

    16 amp upgrade

Well without having to take the consumer unit apart I have measured the outer flat grey cable which is 12-13 mm at the widest part, I think it is as thick as cooker cable
