    Recommend sanding discs.

I was warned off Abranet on sanders because it did not stick to the sanders very well and had a habit of either coming off or moving = damaged hooks on sander. I have not tried them on a sander but they work well for hand sanding and on the lathe.

Funky looking cyclone CNC Paul! Did you post a "project" post for how you made it?

    Sanding Table

Not so much the dust but the load on the shaft/bearings. When you are cutting with the router it is normally done in small amounts and the cutter should cut the wood as it is fed through, which will naturally load the shaft/bearings. Sanding could be a higher load (in my head anyway), which is...

    Sanding Table

Good idea but I worry a bit about the bearings/bushes on the router. I guess if you take it easy then there should be nothing to worry about :?

    Bu88er

You can borrow my dehumidifier if you fancy a drive to Worcester! It may be worth making a little box/cover for your pipe, in case you drop something a bit bigger on it next time :D

    Fox router table on offer

It arrived today, while I was out! I collected it from the depot in Malvern. I decided I would put it together this evening but there were no instructions in the box!! I read the review that said the instructions were not much more than a parts list and few pictures, well I don't even have that...

    Fox router table on offer

I ordered one on Sunday, got an email on Tuesday to say it had been dispatched but no other details. I sent Rutlands an email to ask who/when and where because I need to make sure I am around for the delivery. To their credit I got a response pretty quickly, to say expect it any time between now...

Using a morticer as a drill

The more tools the better :D I have the Ax mortiser and was looking at getting the chuck for it but I decided to get a pillar drill instead, more useful and versatile.

    SIP 01332 set-up?

I thought I would post an update about the saw... SIP sent out the worm wheel and riving knife that I had to order via my local(ish) tool shop. I fitted the new worm wheel and the saw blade is now rising and lowering without any sideways movement/swaying. The new worm wheel is the same as the...

    Wickes sprirt levels

I bought a couple the other day in Worcester. For the money you could use them as paint stirrers! Great levels and are worth a lot more than they are asking for them!

    purpleheart colouring

I probably should get some instruction, read a book watch a DVD etc. It is only my second bowl, the first one turned out ok but it was sycamore (which was easy to work with).

    purpleheart colouring

Thanks Tony. I have been working on a bowl for my other half but I am struggling with tear-out on the end grain! It is hard as nails, I seem to spend most of my time sharpening my chisels! Not a good wood for a beginner, but purple is my girlfriends favourite colour... at the moment the bowl is...

    purpleheart colouring

Sorry to drag this up again... I have just had the same thing happen to me. I will try and leave it in the daylight to see if it goes back to purple again. Does it matter what finish you put on it? I have put shellac sanding sealer on it for tonight but was not sure what would be best?
