    Strange firmer chisels

Apparently turning chisels. If you would like to use them as normal chisels I would suggest a thick steel washer with the hole filed to fit the tang at a suitable location along the tang in order to serve as a bolster.

    quality planes

Anchor was made by Eskilstuna jernmanufaktur AB later also called Jernbolaget. They were manufacturing a lot of different things made of steel or iron such as cutlery, sissors, hinges, padlocks, knives, skates, tools and house hold scales. Actually the name Anchor is still used by a lock...

    Mouth size on wooden jointer

What size of the mouth opening should you have on a wooden jointer. I inherited a 19 century wooden jointer that is about 63 cm long, 25". It is made of Birch which is common here. Now the mouth opening is about 6-7 mm. Do I need to close it with an inlay? I rarely work with difficult Wood...

I think i just did something stupid. Bought a plane...

I have that adjustable block plane from E.C.Emmerich but I am not really happy with it. First of all it has a very wide throat and it is not adjustable. Secondly the iron does not stay put when doing any serious work. There is no way I can tighten the lever cap enough to make it stay put...

    Seized lever cap screw

Are you sure it is the original screw with the correct thread? It could be a replacement screw with a thread that is almost right but binds after a few turns.

How flat can you plane your work? With a flat plane?

I would call that a compass plane.

    Secondry Bevel Edge?

Do not use the Tormek to flatten the backs of your chisels. The side of the wheel will not stay flat and there is no tool to flatten it. Yes it will work fine for flattening a few chisels on a new stone but after a number of chisels you will gradually realise that your flattened chisels are...

    ECE Primus Ultimate Smoothing Plane

Glue a piece of (stiff) felt to each side of the lateral adjuster to keep it tight in the plane. The kind of self adhesive felt that you put under the legs of furniture to protect the floor works perfectly.

    chisels,chisels,chisels

Are you sure it says E.A. Bell ? It could be E.A. Berg. Erik Anton Berg, Eskilstuna Sweden. The same brand that many decades later got the shark branding. Eventually they were bought by Bacho.
