    Bandsaw Blades

Completely agree about Tuffsaws. We should support small businesses of this kind and encourage more of the same.

    Bandsaw Blades

I changed to Tuffsaw blades recently for my Record BS350 and I can hardly believe how much better they are than the "standard" blades supplied by Record.

    Another bargain from Rutlands!

I used mine to frame a 24ft shed and greenhouse and to cut all the flooring and cladding as well as trim the roof shingles. It worked very well and stayed accurate throughout. Hope you get at least as much good use as I did! Jim

    Another bargain from Rutlands!

Very nice little saw you have there. I had one and found the cutting capacity to be way above what I expected for such a light and easy to move saw.

Axminster CT150 planer - no volt switch problem

Hi Bob Thanks for this. The terminals on the "on side of the switch aren't connected to anything until the switch is thrown. I'm pretty sure that the terminals on the "off" side of the switch are connected to the coil. If when you say the "load" you mean the planer's motor, then it's as I...

Axminster CT150 planer - no volt switch problem

Hi Olly Thanks for your reply. My switch looks the same as yours from the picture, but the on button is black, not green, so perhaps it's not the same after all. The old switch made a slight hum when the power was turned on (without switching on the motor). The old switch would sort of...

Axminster CT150 planer - no volt switch problem

I wonder if anybody can help with this problem? I have a used Axi CT150 planer which kept shorting the mains when switched on. Eventually I bought a new switch from Axi (I suspected the old one because it was noisy) and found that the old switch had been wired with the mains coming in to the...

Hi all Hereis my January bowl. I think it's idigbo, 230mm across, 60mm high, made with 3/8" and 1/2" Henry Taylor superflutes, finished with 240 grit and a bit of thinned cellulose sanding sealer.

    3 rustic bowls

Now that is just the sort of thing I'd be proud to say I'd made myself! Very nice pieces, simple but elegant.

Any one seen the new Axminster AW1416VS Woodturning Lathe?

Hi Just had a look at the new SIP lathe. It doesn't have a three-phase motor and inverter like the new Axi, which would partly explain the price difference. Also, the SIP has 305mm swing and a 3/4" x 16 spindle thread whereas the Axi has 350mm swing, a M33 x 3.5mm spindle and a magnetic...

New(ish) Axminster lathe - anybody tried it yet?

Hi Allen The motor is 560w (3/4 HP, I think). I suppose the magnetic switch unit has magnets on the back of the switch unit so that you can position it at different locations on the machine. This is standard on lathe like the Vicmarc 175 and 300 series. The Axi lathe also has an M33 x 3.5...
