    Small anvil, now what?

I’ve been gifted a small 11kg anvil, but have no idea where to start with metalworking in general. Any tips for how to get started, what kind of projects are sensible and easy for beginners etc? Thanks in advance.

    Jewellers Saw Blades

I use the Pegas blades with the saw from Workshop Heaven (also where the I get the blades from). I find they don't snap as often as cheaper blades do, and they hold tension well.

    Rust removal from carving chisels

I’ve picked up some second hand carving chisels/gouges. They’re good quality Sorby and Pfeil, but they have a fair amount of rust. It’s in small patches like freckles, across both the main shafts and into the various cutting shapes. Any recommendations for getting it off? Thanks!

    Narex chisels

I have the 8116s which have been great. Still the same issue as above with the first few mm being a little brittle and not holding an edge well.

    Glue suitable for chopping boards

I’m not sure water resistance and being food safe are the same, especially with resin based glues. Everbuild 503 has an allergic reaction warning and an ecological toxicity warnings from a glance at the SDS. Not what I’d want to eat off. (I’m no TB3 fanboy, I wish other glues would get FDA...

I was contemplating something similar. After David Charlesworth and David Savage passed away, and many others are leaving teaching…who will start to take their place?

Juuma Vs Lie Nielsen Rebate (Rabbet) Block Planes?

I think you are the first person I have ever seen challenge what seems to be the current orthodoxy and suggest that LN may have ever produced a less than heavenly plane. Are we allowed to do that now?

Juuma Vs Lie Nielsen Rebate (Rabbet) Block Planes?

We might not all like it but Dionysios is probably right. LN planes don’t seem to have any patent protection (LN has only 5 filed patents in the US, with one being for an improved router plane). I suspect there isn’t much available intellectual property protection around planes based on the...

Finally DEWALT DW735 on 220v, but still not in UK?

This may be a daft question, but does anyone actually know why you can’t get this model in Europe?

    Splitting the line.

I was wondering if anyone had views on ‘splitting the line’ when sawing. I’m trying to improve my sawing accuracy after seeing joints coming in a saw kerfs width narrow. My assumption is that I should start sawing so the kerf lines up to the waste side of the line, not directly down the middle...
