    Parkside track saw

I'm having real trouble unscrewing the blade screw on my track saw. It's a 5mm allen which I believe is counter-clockwise to unscrew. I've tried a long allen key and also a 5mm allen socket but neither are budging it and it's starting to round slightly. Anyone else found this? I don't really...

    Sharpening

I'm sure I'm going to open a Pandora's box, but I'm new to turning. Just did a course with Yandles and used the Sorby Pro Edge extensively - very enjoyable and I just realised the value of always have a sharp tool. Right now, I'm not sure I can justify the £450 although I am of the view of buy...

    Record CL1 tailstock alignment

Recently picked up a CL1 as my first entry into turning. I think it was previously used for mainly bowl turning. I'm struggling getting the tailstock to align. I've gone through and checked the bench is level and the bars are level, but still no joy. It seems the "feet" of the tailstock are...

    Craft Supplies/Sorby PCC2000

Hi all - does anyone have a manual for one of these? There's an old thread here: Craft Supplies Precision Combination Chuck PC2000 | UK Workshop but the links to the manuals no longer seem to work. I've contacted Craft Supplies but they can't help until next week when someone's back from...

    Parkside track saw

I have a Parkside track saw which has been very good for the type of work I'm doing. The splinter guard on the track is quite tired now so could do with replacing. Could anyone recommend a suitable replacement? Thanks.

    Getting started

I've done a fair bit of woodworking, but never tried my hand at wood turning. I've been watching a few YouTube videos and would be keen to give it a try. Does anyone have some good newbie guidance - for example, what sort of lathe and tools to buy, easy projects to start with, best wood for a...

    Shed suppliers

I need a shed for a ride-on mower as I don't have enough time to build something. Looking for any recommendations for a supplier - not top end as ultimately, I'll build something and doesn't have to be too secure, just water tight.

    Propane space heaters

I have a Clarke Little Devil (original - maybe around 2005). I don't use it too much but got a new cylinder for it today. Seems the thread size is POL105 but the regulator I have is bigger - I'm guessing 7/8" but that is a guess. It's not been 15 years since I used it, maybe 3 or 4 years. Did...

    Repairing a chair leg

I have some old chairs. I think they're oak but at some point, they've been allowed to get wet at the bottom of the legs. I'm looking for ideas on how to go about repairing this damage as I think they're worth saving. Thanks.

    Light restoration project

Just finished this little vintage filing cabinet. The back was missing, sides were coming apart and the hardware was all bent. I've therefore repaired it, given it a light french polish and wax and straightened and cleaned up the hardware. Nice little piece for the £5 I paid for it.

    Perform 6 jointer

I picked up a good condition Perform 6 jointer from Facebook Marketplace today as a bit of an intro to jointers having never really used one. I understand they were a budget brand of Axminster Tools. Would anyone happen to have a manual on setup/adjustment of the fence? The model number is...

    Grain filler

I'm doing a picture frame project with some lovely old mahogany. I'm looking for a grain filler and it seems that Rustins mahogany is nearly twice the price of their natural or oak one. Question is, can I mix in some wood dye with Rustins natural or does anyone have recommendation for...

    Pocket hole jigs

Been looking through previous posts on recommended pocket hole jigs. Thinking about this Trend one: Trend Pocket Hole Jig & Pocket Hole Screws Jig (toolstation.com) which seems to balance price and quality. Any other current (2022) recommendations? Thanks!
