    My first roof build

Hi, I'm building myself a small workshop and I'm looking at the roof construction, I've attached my initial plan and I'd like to ask some questions if possible? 1. Is the pitch suitable for the span - I'm trying to get more headroom as I'm 6'4". I know I have to keep the structure under 2.5m 2...

    Coal Cupboard Door Renovation

I've been meaning to sort this for 15 years but it's always been low on the list (rest of house and garden first). I've always thought I'd build a nice new door but now I've come to it I'm having a bash at renovating it. Our house is a 1930s semi and I guess this is the original coal cupboard...

    Sandolin failure

Hi, I've sanded back our dining room table top and gone over it with Oak Sandolin Interior Woodstain (the manufacturer had obviously just sprayed it with something very cheap and nasty). Problem is if you give so much as a dirty look it fades - tea, ketchup etc fade the colour pretty much...

    Sap/ Knots in skirting

Hi, what's the best stuff to block knots and sap in pine skirting before painting (with Crown Trade). If it could also be used on a small water stain on a painted ceiling that would be ideal. PS I know it's probably Zinsser but I'm not sure which one will do both jobs: Bullseye, 1-2-3 or BIN...

    Hi

Just joined so thought I'd say hello. The short story. Just about finished doing my house up and really enjoyed the timber jobs so I've just bought a new table saw and I'll be building my new workshop in the garden over the next few weeks. So, first question... I'm making an umbrella stand (a...
