free pdf - Temple Thorold on Wood Turning from 1867

I was thinking the problem was the addition of the for sale column on the right of the web page! I don't reprint anything under copyright (ex-research librarian so I'm well up on copyright laws), try not to post anything under copyright on the free site and keep a copyright disclaimer on the...

free pdf - Temple Thorold on Wood Turning from 1867

Ok but I'm a bit confused as to why? The Toolemera site has been up and running since 2006 as a free site. The Shop is a secondary site as is the Blog but the primary site has been sitting there for years. If I've run afoul of the rules, my apologies. There was no intent to do so. Gary

free pdf - Temple Thorold on Wood Turning from 1867

http://toolemera.com/Books%20%26%20Booklets/booksuseoftools.html I'm usually upstairs in the Hand Tools area but I thought this latest addition to my website would be of interest here: free pdf download: Temple Thorold - The Lathe And It's Uses; Or, Principles And Practices Of Plain Turning...

Stokes Complete Cabinet Maker 1841 Edtion anyone?

Apologies, Amazon did buy up ABE. Part of the deal was allowing Google books into the mix which also gave a gateway to Internet Archive books via the Google Books channel. Amazon allows sellers to sell Google book ripoffs via ebooks and print books so why not at ABE too? My pardons are abject

Stokes Complete Cabinet Maker 1841 Edtion anyone?

ABE, originally the Advanced Book Exchange in it's infancy, was bought up by Google. Google owns Google Books. Google allows any wannabe bookseller to dump anything into ABE. Now Google/ABE is allowing so called eBooks to be dumped into the mix. Whenever I search ABE, I used the advanced search...

Stokes Complete Cabinet Maker 1841 Edtion anyone?

Thanks Andy! therein lies the source of my rant, which rant I delve into on regular intervals. An interesting tidbit discovered is that one of the founders of the scam was the company that started the Amazon ebook company and later split off on it's own. I can't name them as of yet because I...

Stokes Complete Cabinet Maker 1841 Edtion anyone?

Ready for a short rant? The ABE books you presently see are ripoffs of the Archive and Google docs. So whatever you see in the black & white online pdf is what you will get in the print book. The sellers download the free pdf files en masse and sell them under their own name. Quite a few of...

Stokes Complete Cabinet Maker 1841 Edtion anyone?

The Internet Archive PDF for the 1829 edition is right here: http://archive.org/details/completecabinetm00stok There isn't any online version of the 1841. The next up is the 1850 from Henry Carey Baird which is the same as the 1829 except that the color plates are not included.

Stokes Complete Cabinet Maker 1841 Edtion anyone?

I'm in search of anyone who might have a copy of the 1841 edition of J. Stokes The Complete Cabinet Maker And Upholsterer's Guide. The 1829 first edition is within spitting distance of publication but first I would like to check a few facts against the 1841 edition which was also published by...

    Fairham on Wood Turning Book?

I typically lurk at the hand tools forum but in this case, I have a question for the turning community. I'm in the process of reviewing a few early turning books for reprinting and would like to know what you think of them (I'm not a wood turner and as such have no real frame of reference)...

    Information on Thomas Martin?

Mike I have a copy of Watson which give a handful of dates and a copy of the attendance record for Martin leading to St. Michael. During some early morning research, I found this reference at the Skempton Archives: http://www.cv.ic.ac.uk/SkemArchive/HDMS ... EMS038.htm and emailed the...

    Information on Thomas Martin?

Coming out of lurking mode, I am in need of some assistance in research. Living in the US, it's a bit far for me to walk over to find this out on my own. I'm at the tail end of prepping Thomas Martin's Circle Of The Mechanical Arts, 1813, for publication. The introduction is the last step and...

    Melhuish Exonian Work Bench

So they do exist! I'll see if I can get photos from the auction houses for use on the site. Have to be legitimate you know. I still think it looks like it was used as a clothes press.

    Melhuish Exonian Work Bench

If anyone can turn one up and get a photo, I'll add it to what will shortly be the Tool Chest section of my website. For now, there'll just be the scans. I've never seen one of these turn up in an auction catalog this side of the Atlantic

    Melhuish Exonian Work Bench

My guess is, just like the Hammacher Schlemmer monsters, very very few were ever sold. Those that were sold most likely sat in some gents parlor looking pretty while the tradesman slogged away in the shed.

The Anarchist's Tool Chest, Christopher Schwarz

Interesting reading what people overseas (from me at least, residing south of Boston, MA, USA) think of the book. If nothing else, it's served to create an incredible amount of self-promotion through conflict, something book publishers try for but don't always succeed at. Chris wasn't trying for...

    Still looking for Mr. Fairham

Because that is the only one I have access to through our library! Could you send along the data you found? And I'll take a look at that website. A genealogist I am not. Gary
