    Sourcing a plastic/nylon cog

Many thanks to all who took the trouble to advise me. I think I'll have a go at making them, as suggested. What did you use for the mold, GweithdyDU? I was thinking plasticine? Thanks also to sploo and pops92 for the kind offers of 3D printing - I may yet take you up on that!

    Sourcing a plastic/nylon cog

Hi all, hoping someone might be able to help with this. I'm trying to repair a battery powered articulated model with small electric motors and discovered two (identical) cogs have broken across where the shaft goes (probably due to mishandling when it was running). I'm probably not searching...

    Lathe Tool Storage Rack

Similar to some earlier posts, I employ the trolley method. I have a window behind my lathe and wouldn't want to be leaning over for tools anyway, so I got a trolley with shelves (these hold various items of hardware) and attached wood to the top (for the Pro Edge) and back and sides for the...

    Turning at 54A

I saw him at Maker's Central and he's fine, just life getting in the way. He hasn't necessarily given up, just busy and editing, etc takes time.

    Me? Indecisive? I'm not sure!

Thanks for your replies! Good points about future purchases of power hungry tools and buying "bare". (Not this weather maybe!!)

    Me? Indecisive? I'm not sure!

I need to replace my old DeWalt combi drill (knackered Nicads and wobbly chuck) and have narrowed it to a choice of 2 - according to budget largely. Another DeWalt (DCD709M2T) or a Bosch (GSB18V-55). There are quite a few similarities, but the differences are: DW torque is 65Nm, Bosch is 55Nm...

CCTV & Alarm or neither - Detached garage workshop security

Sorry, I'm thinking about notifications and viewing what the camera sees when I'm away from home?

CCTV & Alarm or neither - Detached garage workshop security

Thanks for that Johnny! I have been pondering on getting the camera/app version but, due to total ignorance, keep procrastinating as I'm not sure how important the upload speed is (think <1)! Could you enlighten me please? There seems to be no mention in the specs. Cheers!

    Nespresso repair

Hi all, does anyone have experience of working on these machines? They want £79 just to look at it! This is a Sage Creatista and the problem is that the pods are not being pierced, so no coffee is coming out, only some water. I can't find anything on YouTube for this machine, only a reference...

The living hell of dust extraction diameters

    Bicycle inner tube any good?

    Preparing fence panels

Agree about ducks back, there doesn't seem to be any depth of cover. When the window cleaner ran their hose over the gate once it was down to bare wood. Only positive is it's easy to touch up - but I'd rather not have to! Is your mum's Wilko own brand?

    Knob for bandsaw

Hi Garno, sorry can't help with what you're looking for, but I have the same machine and found that mechanism was jamming up with sawdust (rubbish extraction) so I taped a piece of thin perspex in place to deflect the dust away, if that's of any help in future.

    Looking for a " thingy"

Thanks very much - that could be what I'll settle on! It's 20mm ply, so I could epoxy one each side.

    Looking for a " thingy"

Thanks everyone, there are some interesting ideas there! And don't worry Aidan, if I use brass it will be smooth, as Thingybob says. It's only going to have occasional movement too. Cheers!

    Looking for a " thingy"

I want to drill a hole in plywood to pass a flex through. The flex will be moved through the hole from time to time so to protect it I want it to pass through a bit of brass tube ( about 10mm id) with a sort of collar or shoulder which will also make the hole look tidier. I have searched for...
