Flueless Gas Fires. Good or Bad ?

I'm in the process of changing a living room chimney breast and noticed that the old gas fire is only 60% efficient. A flueless wall hanging fire ticks all the boxes until I start reading the mixed opinions to their use. Anyone got an opinion or experience on these gas fires?

    Lighting circuit problem

I've just wired some gu10 240v down-lights using this circuit which I think is a radial circuit? The problem is the lights get dimmer as I connect each one? I don't have a working multimeter at the moment so can't test voltages. I have a couple of workstation lights using 240v energy saving...

    Insulated garage door

Has anyone insulated an aluminium up & over door? What sort of improvement did it make? I know it's a bit vague but I'm just trying to work out if it's worth doing as the rest of the garage is uninsulated and I don't want to insulate all of it only the door which probably has the greatest heat...

    Fitted Wardrobe

I'm at the planning stage for a wardrobe with sliding doors, the panelled doors (560mm x 2230mm) will be 22mm MR-MDF for rails and stiles, 12mm MR-MDF for the panels. Is there a minimum width the rails stiles should be? I was thinking about 75mm for both. What runners would I need for small sock...

    AW10BSB2 Short Rip fence

Does anyone have one of these fitted? How many parts are there? When I got my table saw I had a spare part leftover which was supposed to be part of the short rip fence. I received the rest of the parts today and the spare part does not seem to have anything to do with the short rip fence. Jeff.

    Axminster AW10BSB2 Assembly

Before I assemble the saw I'm trying to workout it's final position in the workshop. I don't want to move the T/S around as the floor's very uneven. I'm presuming that the slide rail has to moved to it's furthest forward point so I can cross cut the maximum width. So how easy is it to move the...

    Glue for long assembley time?

Hi, I going to be doing a long glue and clamp up using MR-MDF, can anyone recommend a glue with a long setting time. PVA gives me 20mins for clamping and squaring up which has been fine for the pieces I've done so far which are 700mm long, however the next pieces are 1500mm long, so I figure...

They are glued (scotch) and pinned with nails/brads with the heads flush Has anyone a suggestion/tip for removing the nails without too much damage. The only thing I've thought of was to carefully chisel away an...

    Question about Storing MR-MDF?

Two questions really, My workshop can be damp, up 85% humidity for very short periods but generally around 70% humidity or lower during dry spells, could I store MR MDF without it soaking up moisture under these conditions? Can MR MDF sheets be stored upright ok for a few months? If so is...

    Router Lift Name?

I'm trying to find a simple router lift that I came across and for the life of me I can't remember it's name. It's made of small dia metal bar and I seem to remember that it uses the router handles for a pivot/fulcrum point. It's not one of those fine adjustment jobbies, more for quick raising...
