Festool KAPEX L&R Trimming Extensions (Sold)

I have a pair of KA-UG-R/L Trimming Attachments for sale (Festool part number 497514). These 'material support extensions' attach to the sides of the KAPEX mitre saw, the UG-KS 120 (or KS88). They have been fantastic, up until I built in my mitre saw, so I no longer need them. They both extend...

    Course recommendations

Try your local colleges. Many do evening classes in all sorts of things. I recently did two to learn MIG and the TIG welding and they were great.

Cutting gears in metal sheet (or buying plastic ones)

You may find that somewhere like 3D Hubs enables you to find a more competitive 3D-Printing service. You do have to register with them, but they enable you to pick the elements which are important to you for your job and match you with folks who have the capability. I ended up matched to a local...

Veritas Quick Release Wonder Dog In The UK

Try asking Peter Sefton's team over at The Wood Workers Workshop - they can often get hold of things like this even if they don't regularly stock them.

Fitting Floating Shelves - Are these brackets Good or?

+1 for resin and threaded bar if you need a bomb proof support. I have my wood rack supported on a thermalite block wall using this method. It was the only way it was actually going to stay attached.

Notes on Sykes Timber@Atherstone- Can you PLEASE HELP?

Sykes Timber: Are they hobby friendly? Yes. They are more geared up for larger volume trade, but are happy to help with timber selection and ideas if they know what you are trying to do. Can you self-select or is it by appointment? A bit of each, they have an offcuts area where you can self...

    Rutlands Aluminium sash clamps

The can be made to work much better and do provide an inexpensive way to obtain clamps, but they need a bit of effort to get the best out of them. Paul Sellers has a good video showing how to improve them significantly.

any small CNC machine owners here?

I have an old ShapeOko2 (original cost was about £500), which has been heavily upgraded since then (great fun to learn some new things). The latest versions of this style of machine are sold through Inventables or Carbide3D in the USA. They have come on since I started with mine, but I would not...

What did you do in your workshop today ?

Thanks for the feedback! I have a small cnc router that I used to carve the roundels. I didn't use dado joints as it is only for holding tea and coffee pots, just glued and pinned.

What did you do in your workshop today ?

Today I finished a much overdue project. I wanted a small display shelf for my kitchen in a similar style to another I have had for ages. Similar proportions and overall style, but slightly different configuration. This is my version - I hadn't thought through the cornice (?) at the top before...

Which course, Paul Sellers or Peter Sefton

I have been on both courses (a few years ago) and I found them both excellent, but quite different. As mentioned, Peter's was a five day and Paul's was a nine day course. Peter Sefton has a very approachable and friendly style, mixing between demonstration, practical work and critique/advice...

Small mobile base single foot lever design clip design

I'm not sure how helpful it would be at this stage, but this fellow (Carl Holmgren) has a few variants of that design on his machines. His delivery is a little slow, but the principal of the designs is good. His videos show a number of different evolutions of the design with different machines.

Looking to buy a Metal Lathe

To do threading of anything above M10, you really want something that can do 'screwcutting', which is the term for a lathe that can cut threads of different pitches. Another consideration is that most older lathes will be setup for Imperial thread pitches, which can sometimes be easily...

    Bessey KR clamps

In the spring the European sites had them cheaper than now, but something may have happened to our exchange rates... UK prices were usually very similar between vendors. D&M Tools sometimes have a sale, usually around their show times. Workshop Heaven also have them on offer from time to time...
