    MY WORKSHOP

Hi Paul Great looking workshop! I enjoy reading your kitchen posts on WWUK so its really interesting to see where you build them. Your soon-to-be spray room looks bigger than my entire workshop/garage, but I'm not jealous...much :-) Look forward to seeing some more of your work soon. Cheers Ed

New Machine (garage) Room Setup advice require please

Kris I was in a similar situation to you about this time last year so thought I would pass on my experiences. Like you, I had an empty garage (2.4m x 4.9m) and wanted to buy the correct tools to take rough sawn timber and turn it into furniture. Originally I started buying brand new tools but...

Spraying advice for a noob - what paint to use???

Thanks very much for the advice Guys. John - Thanks for the info on the Morrells paints, I'll check out your suggestions on their website Phil - I've checked the Dulux website and found a datasheet for the eggshell that states it can be sprayed if thinned with 1 part water to 5 parts paint...

Spraying advice for a noob - what paint to use???

Hi Guys As the subject line indicates, I’m new to the world of spraying and am in need of some advice from you all please. I’ve been using a foam roller to paint my furniture up until now and while the final result is very acceptable it’s clearly not as good as a sprayed on finish. My next few...

Oak Door with a difference - WIP

Thanks for all your comments guys, much appreciated. @ Mark - unfortunately the mirror isnt accessible so if it breaks I'm buggered. I've fitted a door stop on the skirting below it so the bedroom door shouldn't be able to smash the mirror. If it does break I think I could probably carefully...

Oak Door with a difference - WIP

Thanks Peter. You make a very good point. I forgot to mention in the WIP that I routed out a small hand hold on the back of the bottom style to open the door. That way I dont need to fit a handle to the front and keep up the illusion of it being just a mirror. It works quiet well :-)

Oak Door with a difference - WIP

Being fairly new to woodworking I've never built a project out of solid wood, its always used MDF or ply. With house refurbishments winding down for the year I’ve had some time to put my newly acquired tools (and my questionable competency) through their paces with a fairly simple project. Our...

    Finishing Clear Pine Veneered Doors

Hi Guys I'm buying some clear pine veneered doors and need some advice on finishing them please. The end result I'd like to achieve is a finish that will protect the wood from discolouration from the sun etc while keeping the natural, light colour of the wood. I've been advised to use Clear...

    MDF Wardrobes WIP

@ Mailee - no probs mate, I'm always open to advice, thanks for the tip. The MDF drawers were the first drawers I'd built and it was definitely a lesson learnt in what material not to use. They have held up for a few months but it'll be interesting to see how long they withstand the Mrs shoving...

    MDF Wardrobes WIP

The wardrobes look good, nice work!! How much shimming did you have to do to get the wardrobes sat square in those alcoves? Also, how did you find the structural strenght of the 18mm MDF? I'm thinking of making a freestanding wardrobe and have been pondering whether to use Ply or MDF. I used...

    In-built Wardrobe

Hi Guys This is my first post and I'm afraid its not a fine piece of furniture like many of you post on these forums. I've recently bought my first house and as a chanllenge decided to build an in-built wardrobe for our bedroom. I've just started woodwork as a hobby and this is my first big...
