    Wood Purchase

My apologies for being oversensitive there Tussess, I guess I regarded your posts at laughing at me, which I kinda object to from people I don't know. I of course appreciate the advice. So.. bedroom furniture is going to be pretty much all the same widths, so if I had it all cut to the...

    Wood Purchase

Mm, yes that is an option I hadn't considered. That would cut down on the complexity of the project considerably. I'll give it some thought.

    Wood Purchase

At this stage I have to wonder why you're even responding, because it's certainly not to be helpful. Anyway.. I'll be a bit more specific about my needs. I'm looking to make some relatively simple (in terms of carpentry skill) bedroom furniture. I'm not keen on purchasing it because I don't...

    Wood Purchase

Honestly it would involve doing all the shaping, biscuit holes, dado's etc, pretty much everything I can't do with the few hand tools I have. It'd be a bit much to ask someone I don't know to help out with basically making the entire thing (minus some gluing and screwing) for me. I was under...

    Wood Purchase

I've heard that you can order timber pre-cut to the dimensions/specifications that you require. As I've just moved to an Apartment with no room for tools this is a pretty attractive option for me. Can anyone point me to a company that offers these sorts of services in the UK (north preferably)?

    First Tablesaw (On a Budget)

Actually, you could say that we (as in, us Business owners) do get paid.. in that we get to buy things VAT free if we pay VAT too. I love buying all my techy stuff VAT free :D

can you link me to it please? All I can find are lots of non-SC models.

    First Tablesaw (On a Budget)

Yeah, it does sound tempting.. trouble is, for £60 I can get the non-SC version 2nd hand... that way I can get a router/router table aswell.. which would be a big plus. Difficult justifying an extra £140.

    First Tablesaw (On a Budget)

Gary, I'm actually in discussions with a chap via pm who's selling a Ryobi table saw, my impression is that it's not a decent saw, but it's cheap...

    First Tablesaw (On a Budget)

thanks for the input Matt, I actually bought a circular saw a few months back and I've found that it feels a bit unweidly (is that a word?) to be used for anything other than sizing things for a table saw. I'm definitely set on a table saw. Thanks for the advise though.

    First Tablesaw (On a Budget)

Hi guys, I've been lurking on here for a while, and I've finally talked my mother into buying me a tablesaw for Christmas. Obviously as it's a gift, I'm not going to be able to get anything really decent. We'd looked at the Erbauer table saw in the Screwfix catalogue, but on reflection I...

    Advice on laminates needed

standard tropical tank tbh. If I had a decent sized tank I probably wouldn't bother with a tank hood... but I don't, it's really rather small so it'd just look odd imo.

    Advice on laminates needed

Yes, that's exactly what I want to avoid. I think Plastic Coating is looking to be the answer. I hear what you're saying about the joints needing to be tight and accurate. Problem is, that atm I don't have a table saw, or a biscuit joiner. But I'm keen to make this hood to a high quality so...

Ah, now I kinda assumed it was clear. Ok, well that makes things a little easier I suppose.

    Advice on laminates needed

Firstly, thanks for the replies guys. Very helpful lot you are. Right, when you refer to laminate, do you mean melamine laminate (the white plastic stuff)? I don't mind using MDF as the base material, but I want a real wood look to it, so it'd need to be laminated with Beech or something for...

    Advice on laminates needed

Hi guys, long time lurker here. I've been planning on building a new hood for my fishtank for a while and it's my plans have got to the stage where I need a few questions answering before I can go any further. I want a natural wood look to it, but the convenience of a wipe clean surface on the...

Help needed from the US Re Jet supersaw

Parcel2Go have a handy service, which allows you to order something in the states and give their address as the delivery address, then they'll forward it on to you (for a price of course). Very handy if a US company won't ship internationally.

    cutlistplus download techy question?

Odds are that the "programs" on your desktop are just shortcuts. If you right click on one and click "properties" the tab that's hightlighted at the top will say "shortcut" if that's the case. Check that you've got another shortcut in your start menu and you can clear it from your desktop. If...
