    Spray gun nozzle size

Thanks for the info RobinBHM. I'm not sure if this helps but the "Relative density" according to the data-sheet is "Approx. 1.03 at 20 C (ISO 8962)". I don't know what that means, my guess was "3% more viscous than water" but that's cannot be the case -- it's kind of gloopy.

    Spray gun nozzle size

Hi, I have some Polyvine Wax Finish Varnish that I used on a stripped wooden door. It took a while to apply and I have a load of other doors to do so I thought about spraying. Polyvine's literature states that their decorator's varnish can be sprayed but no mention of spraying for wax finish...

One damp moulding on a door

That's really helpful. Thanks Woody2Shoes! I did send them off to be stripped. Whether they were dipped or done by hand I presume there was alkaline involved. I think I'll remove that bit of moulding to give it a good scrub all 'round. Cheers

One damp moulding on a door

Hi, I have a paneled door I want to varnish, but oddly just one of the mouldings on it seems to be damp. I've attached a photo. It also shows how the moulding has expanded and lifted off the panel. Any ideas how I can remedy this? Thanks!

    Finish for oak door casing

Putting the stock through the planer I notice the grain is quite open. Would you recommend I use grain filler? If so, what brand would you recommend?

    Finish for oak door casing

Hi, I'm making an oak door casing at the moment. This is my first project like this and I know naff all about finishing. I've been Googling about but I can't find many resources for this. As far as I can work out, the choices are: wax, oil, hard waxoil, polyurethane varnish...

    My first proper tools

Thanks for all the replies. Thought I'd update. For starters I wasn't really clear in my OP. By "proper" tools I meant workshop machines really. I have a load of power and hand tools already, just no woodworking machines. In the end, I went for the Axminster AWEPT106 Planer Thicknesser, a Kreg...

    My first proper tools

Yes, I do want to get it all square, so I need a good fence. I have been looking at the Axminster MB9020 but it looks very similar to the PT85. I think I'll have to bite the bullet and go with the AWEPT106.

    My first proper tools

Ok people, I'm convinced! I'll be getting a router table I think. I have a Powerbase router already. I've found the Ryobi ART3HG, the Trend CRT/MK3, and the Axminster Cast Iron Router Table. Anyone know which is best, or have an alternative suggestion?

    My first proper tools

Hi, I am renovating a house and I am going to install oak skirting throughout, as well as some door frames and architraves. I have always fancied buying some proper woodworking tools with a view to making some furniture at some point. I'm trying to pursuade my wife that the cost of all the...
