Sold Startrite 403 16” single phase bandsaw

Selling my 16” bandsaw due to lack of use. Purchased from Scott & Sargeant in May 2019 it has only had infrequent hobby use in my home workshop. Note, this is the single phase version with 16A plug. Perfect working order and the cast table is rust free and has always been kept waxed. Comes with...

Itech 260S with Spiral cutter head - First impressions

Thanks for the update. It looks like you're pleased with your purchase. The Scheppach 3.1 does appear to be the same machine without the spiral cutter block. The question is, is it worth the extra £400? :-k

Itech 260S with Spiral cutter head - First impressions

Thanks Trevanion, I think I'll try and make the trip to S&S's showroom in Horsham to take a look. On paper it looks like a decent machine for the money.

Itech 260S with Spiral cutter head - First impressions

How are you getting on with the iTech? As you say, very little info on the company or reviews of their products out there. I’m currently considering the 310S variant from S&S, or otherwise the conventional 3 blade Startrite SD31. Would be interested to hear if the machine is still living up...

    Garage conversion

Hi Dave, I'm in the same boat as you at the moment, extending and insulating my sectional garage. You might be interested in these links I found, as well as previous threads on here... http://www.model-engineer.co.uk/forums/ ... p?th=48023 http://community.screwfix.com/thread/9308...

2nd hand DeWalt DW744-gb table saw - any good?

Thanks for the advice Merlin. It's missing it's riving knife and guard which is a shame, but I like the rack and pinion fence adjustment - seems sensible to me and I wonder why more companies don't use the same design? The motor is what worries me too - not sure how hard it's been used so hope...

2nd hand DeWalt DW744-gb table saw - any good?

Hi everyone, I've been offered a 2nd hand DW744 for £200. Just wondering what people's opinions were on this bit of kit before I make a decision. What are your experiences of using the machine? Any issues to watch out for? Cheers!

    Barnsley Workshop, Petersfield, Open Day

I've been hiking around the Froxfield/Steep area several times - beautiful countryside there, well worth a visit. I always press my nose up against the glass whenever I pass the workshops! It's never been open when I've passed before so I might try and get along this weekend. Thanks for the...

Thanks for the link - those are beautiful! Never seen designs quite like them. On the same subject, does anybody read David Barron's blog? He recently wrote a short piece about some of his favourite box makers... http://davidbarronfurniture.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/wonderful-boxes.html Barron...

Machine table lubrication - what's best to use?

Great! Thanks everyone for your replies. I think I'll give the Liberon wax a go for the tables and the Axminster dry lube for the thicknesser bed rods. Never heard of clementine oil being used before - you learn something every day! Cheers

Machine table lubrication - what's best to use?

Hi all I've recently bought a P/T with cast iron tables that needs a good overhaul to get it back up and running. I'm a bit of a newcomer to using/maintaining machines as I've mainly used handtools thus far, so I'm just wondering what products are best to lubricate the tables to keep them...
