Yorkshire Grit contains pumice and is extremely sexy stuff!
I use it a lot, depending on what finish I’m using, saves me from putting on a coat of danish oil base coat and removes those tiny scratches in one go.
:D
That's a great looking little chuck you have there mate, it'll come in very handy I bet!
(nice to see a glimpse of your lovely lathe and workshop again - it's been a while!)
:D
There are a couple of people who show how to do this on YouTube.
The original one was done by Al Furtado:

You can use sanding sealer with oils, it gives your piece a more even saturation when dealing with end/side grain ;)
Try using a 50/50 cellulose sealer mix with thinner - it will do you well.
:)
It's a great product and I use it as much as possible to give a flawless finish, PLUS it cuts down on the sanding - cutting down on creating dust can only be a good thing too!
:)
Check out my mate Nick at NZ Woodturning on Youtube - he makes LOADS of pencil projects - it's his thing.

The bowl looks great Derek... the glitter gives a superb effect doesn't it - I was a bit dubious when I first saw it, but after I used it on my last project I was really impressed with it.
