    O Bottom Bottom Bottom !!!!!!!!!!

Hi just an option for those of us at that certain time of life when items appear to get lost more often. Consider fitting a small key safe in an unobtrusive location outside the house with copies of those keys you need to enter the house or shed etc. Don't waste your money on the cheap options...

    Advice regarding courses

Thanks for the comments. What I really wanted to know is whether anybody had had instruction from either of the instructors. I know what they do but from past experience I know that just because somebody is good at something it does not necessarily make them a good instructor. At £125 per day...

    Advice regarding courses

Hi folks. I am approaching that special birthday when hopefully I will have plenty of time to turn wood. The family have suggested that they would consider paying for a woodturning course but I don't know who to go with. I live in Sutton Coldfield which is north of Birmingham and have seen two...

    First lathe

I have a Record CL 3 having upgraded from a DML lathe. I am very happy with it because it does what I bought it for, to turn wood. I haven't had any problems with either lathe and the CL3 is within most peoples budget which in this day and age is very important.

    Ideas would be appreciated.

I have a large bag of African/Cuban mahogany spindle lengths sized 1 & 1/2" square by 18". I have made the usual garden implements etc and have been trying to think what I can turn from them. I don't want to cut them up for pen blanks and I don't have the facility to plane them to glue them...

    Bowl foot sizing

Many thanks for the advice. I will have to try using a spigot. I normally turn the base complete with foot and then re chuck to do the inside which does not require any further work on the base, but it does limit what I can do. Thanks again.

    Bowl foot sizing

When Richard was commenting on the delightful bowl by Tanzaro he said that the chuck size should not dictate the size of the foot on a bowl. This raises point I have been concerned about. I would like to turn a raised foot on a 12" bowl but only have a Nova G3 chuck with 50mm jaws. This would...

    The Workshop

Wow even the radiator takes up more space than my work bench. I would get lost in there.
