    Storage Shed - WIP **FINISHED!**

The width of the overhang is indeed important, as it is cantilevered and as such, the wider it becomes the more downward pressure there is. On older roofs the purlins, ridge, and wallplate run through to support the end spar, making a strong job not needing the fascia or any overboarding to...

    Storage Shed - WIP **FINISHED!**

It may never go anywhere, but because of the method of consruction of the ladder frame there is a possibility of sag, only time will tell. It may only be a storage shed but it has a longer gable overhang than most bloody great houses. Dennis.

    Storage Shed - WIP **FINISHED!**

Valid points Crazylilting, the ridge running through and having a fascia board help but there is a possibility of the overhang sagging, especially if it gets thick snow. Could put gallows brackets under the bottom corner of the ladder frames. Dennis.

    Thresholds - suitable wood

As Xy says you rarely see thresholds on internal doors. Are you using them just to form breaking points between different floor finishes in different rooms. They form trip hazards if higher than other finishes. I also agree with Xy that it would be easier to floor first and put thresholds on...

    Bowed Garden Gate

I agree that this gate is a bodgit and scarper job, but as Brian says,he has eased it, which is all that was asked of him. The owner may not be in a position to invest in a new one, and this one although roughly made could possibly last for years. There are hundreds of thousands of ledge and...

    Bowed Garden Gate

Admittedly the brace would be better the other way, but still does the job this way, just not quite as well. If it is a high gate there may be a brace going the other way to a central ledge. You fairly often see ledged and braced doors with the bracings meeting on the the same end of central...

    Bowed Garden Gate

Brian, There looks to be plenty of leeway up to the ledge on the hinge side, I would take the gate off and plane plenty off this side, if you havn't allready. I presume the boards are t&g, running a V groove up the joints on the face would improve the appearance. I would'nt do any thing else...

Recycling and recycled 'Council Tax Bands'.

John, The fall in house values effects all properties so in effect all bands remain the same. You will still get the same service [or lack of it] as you did before the drop in values. Dennis.

    Greenhouse Project, WIP

Rich, The door looks too close to the roof spars to put the normal types of sliding gear on, the heavy duty drawer slides would work on the top inside edge, but unless you can find some second hand I think that they are expensive. I would suggest putting some sort of wheels on the bottom to...

Blanket Chest - Finished!! (Photo's on page 8)

How much pressure did you use on the lid when the screws lifted Olly. Owing to stays being so short and so close to the pivot point, if the stay is over strength this will put immense pressure on the hinges if any force is used. Hopefully this will be cured with the correct strength stays, and...

    Knuckle joint

You could use a filing sander. If I was doing it I would do the same as Olly, looks good. Dennis.
