Best tool for me was a B&D btty screwdriver i bought in the late 80s. It took 4 AA batteries and had an amazing gearing ratio along with a chuck that could bring up the titanic. It went everywhere with me including on 7 operational tours of the middle east and afghanistan, then i think some scrote from the Royal Green Jackets half inched it as it disappeared while I was sorting out some of their IT. really do miss it only cost about £4.50.
Worst was a Laser 1/2" lever bar that turned into a bannana when I tried to take off a flat tyre on my mk3 scorpio when I came back from overseas after an extended tour in Brunei (11 months) and the bolts had siezed
