Do you know of any good woodturning groups to go along to near staffordshire? And be willing to teach a newbie some skills to get me on my way?

Your nearest is probably Mid Staffs http://www.mswa.co.uk/ who meet at Etching Hill Village Hall.

There are also the Stafford & District Woodturning Club and Staffordshire & South Cheshire Woodturners who meet in Stafford and Newcastle-under-Lyne respectively.
