I am just starting another earring stand, 3 tier and I am using a blank called, well would you believe it, the label has been ripped but this is what I can make out.
GONCALO AU I'm not sure about the G or AU at the end but I bet someone will know.
Can you help please.

Thanks Bob, it sound like it, the wood I have is not red but light brown with a line of black, but having another look at the crumpled label and I think you are correct.

Reg,I've made a couple of items out of goncalo alves,and they have been exactly as you describe (light brown with black lines),so I'm sure that's what you've got.
