Where can you buy engineered softwood?

I see that a lot of door and window firms utilise engineered timber for their products. Anyone know whether I can buy this stuff as it is not something I have seen before?

is it the same as paralam or glulam that is used for joists and beams?

B&Q sell it as finished timber plus shelving size’s and mouldings.

Thanks Jason. They actually do the dimensions you need for making frames and casements!
