Cocobolo head?
Must admit it was my first thought. Too late to go and compare between that and Bubinga I have in the shed.

Going by the sapwood, it looks like quite a small log, so I am guessing unlikely to be bubinga. The dark flecks are quite reminiscent of anjan, and the 'watermarking' on the first image similar to Brazillian rosewood or ziricote, but I reckon too reddish for the later. The sapwood is also quite similar to padauk, but again, the log size suggests not.
Yep, I'm still going with cocobolo :)

Any chance of a freshly planed surface??? ;)

Something like ash for the handle and a fruitwood for the head. The colour mainly down to linseed oil or something similar.
