I'm just starting out with veneering so I have a couple of questions for those that know stuff. I'm making some table mats that are around 300mm x 200mm.
When it comes to a balancing veneer what is best to use in terms of something that is cheap and cheerful as it won't be seen.
If I use hardwood as a substrate do I still need a balancing veneer and what is the minimum thickness of the substrate I could get away with to avoid this?
I have a small collection of veneers which are just wood, no backing, but I've seen stuff that is fleece membrane backed. Is that any good in comparison?
Thanks
Steve
