Well maybe not so good. Yesterday a piece of wood decided to fly out of the chuck where does it go yes you got it straight for the face the good news is that I wear a full face respirator, made me jump and the cause of this I had a catch without the tailstock in place. Then today turning away and I hear a noise and wonder why I can.t see anything one of the lenses decided to fall out of my glasses and again the respirator to the rescue as I was wearing it and the lens was caught so nothing was lost. Good job I have a spare set so that I could see to repair them.
Now lets see if I can burn the house down as I am working on a hollow form with the pyrography machine

Glad you had the appropriate gear in place, these little episodes come along, thankfully not very often, but they are certainly a strong reminder.

I've just had someone (family member, sort of) post a link of a turner doing something they think outstanding, thinking I would appreciate it.

Been spending all day trying to think up a response that they will understand without causing offence.

No Respirator, Obviously No extractor and never is by the dust debris around, and the dubious use of Chainsaw on Lathe and without safety Gear.

The subtle power sanding technique is interesting as well.

I now wear a smock and the respirator, before I had a full face shield and a separate dust mask so have always worn safety equipment a bit of a throw back from being a plant mechanic working with dangerous tools as well as having to demonstrate. Depending on what machine I am operating I also have ear defenders which when worn blocks out nearly all noise very high spec the only problem is I can't hear the wife shout "Teas up"
