Turned my first piece (sorta) YAY!

So having bought my first lathe 2 weeks ago and having assembled it I ended up too busy with work to even turn it on. After reading Keith Rowleys book in bed most nights I had a free 3 hours today so oiled up the bearings let it run for a while then inserted a 2"x 2" blank of white deal between centres and just started rounding! ITS SO ADDICTIVE! I may have just basically bludgeoned the blank but I enjoyed it! Its nearly 1am and instead of going to sleep I just want to go out and start turning!!!

i'm at it under a year...at one point i had an idea of starting up a company just manufacturing shavings! :lol:

You are on a very slippery slope !! I started twenty-odd years ago as a hobby, and now it`s an obsession. So, best of luck,keep turning, but keep a tight rein on it.

Hi, I know what you mean, got mine last weekend, haven't stopped, much to the annoyance of the missus!. I've blunted all me chisels, made a huge mess and am completely obsessed!. Every log or branch or chunk of wood that I see has me thinking of all sorts. Good luck!.
