Courtesy of the Easter break, we had a varied collection of communication this morning....

A Coopers of Stortford catalogue. All those things that you didn't know you needed, and probably don't.
A Damart catalogue. Vests, pants, extra thick thingies to keep you extra warm in case you didn't realise that winter was over. Or maybe buy in advance for next...
Some shoe outfit selling extra-wide footware.
A pamphlet from a local-ish pizza outfit. Two, actually.
A letter from some bunch pushing life assurance. No medical required, and a M&S voucher for joining.
A snide circular from the local council telling me to cut my hedge because it's overgrown the public footpath. If I don't, they will, and charge accordingly.
An outfit in Chesterfield pushing mobility scooters.
A letter addressed to nobody in particular warning of forthcoming work on the nearby railway line. Overnights and weekends for some months.

All in the burgundy bin.... :giggle:

Haha!! My post included one from Guy's and St Thomas's in the vein of come in Sir, your time is up! - the non replaceable battery in an implanted loop recorder I have is about to run out and requires replacement..!!

What fun we have!

So you're about out of time; I've got to start wearing specialist Y-fronts, my feet are spreading so I need special footware, and if all else fails, get a mobility scooter! Luckily the Coopers book will include easy-to-use-for-old-duffers hedge trimmers, and I'll have plenty of time to use them because all the rail work will keep me awake!

I got a County Court writ this morning...

That might upset some people but when I looked at it, my impression was more resignation and "What a ball ache". I'm confident of my case of course, it's a dispute with a creditor who is seemingly willing to argue up is down. Worst comes to the worst it's a matter of a couple of hundred quid so not going to lose sleep over it, just hassle to gather the documents together and write a defence and possibly a counterclaim.

I instructed a lawyer to get probate for me on a deceased relative's esate. That was 25th March...she snail-mailed me about a week later, saying 'just sign this contract to retein me'...and yes, you guessed it, this morning's post contained yet ANOTHER legal billet doux, saying 'if you are REALLY sure you want me to act on your behalf, just sign and return this different contract'...I found the bowel cancer kit that arrived alongside the legal bumph slightly more alluring....

Id switch solicitors...... dragging their feet this early isnt a good look 😒

Edit to add: my post should include a new battery for a remote control car i bought recently ( reliving my yooof )

Ah, yes.
The "dung in a box" kit.
It's the little swizzel stick that bothered me, although in years gone by it used to resemble a chip shop fork... :giggle:

Quite a good haul today -

Multiple packs/bundles of cosmos seeds for an upcoming job out the back - can be put off until next month as I’ll be sowing straight into the ground.

A voucher for a free alpine plant at a local garden centre with no other purchase required in order to claim. They do a decent cuppa and cake there though.

A leaflet asking if I want to look round a local care home.

A flyer asking if I want curtains made, cushions covered or the length of my strides taken up.

The monthly booklet of trades and services which I’ll save for when I’m sitting down somewhere to see if it’s different from last month.

Ah another super haul of junk delivered by postman today , 4 leaflets from different pizza companies, roof and gutter cleaning leaflet along with a house cleaning service and the actual post a remittance advice from Capita confirming a credit to my account they made 2 months ago , good to see they are keeping on top of things

I read your earlier post "Running out of time" and to a certain extent I could empathise (I'm 80+) I have had 2 Westies for 15 years and I'm thinking a lot lately about how much time I have left with them I did all there training and became very close to the both of them, as my wife (14 yrs younger), worked away from home most of the week. Where did 15 years go and more so, what have I done and fortunately my answers were a hell of a lot. Some of those activities will be remembered for many years ahead. But, for posterity, I doubt I will be really remembered and that's the same for the majority of us I suppose. I now observe much more than I used to probably because of having the time to do so. I still have a very inquiring mind. Just thought I would post this for you don't know if any of it helps.

Not to depress you too much, but my m-i-l's probate job took 6 months and cost a grand plus!
