Cut six of the pattern from 1/8" or 3mm ply. Cut slot in one to make money box to put your Christmas money in, or make top loose enough to twist off for plain box. Decorate sides. Simples

Don't overdo the xmas pud.

I've had some scrappy 3mm ply kicking aorund that I used as a welding guard which I was going to chuck out today, but seeing as this pattern had been on the desk for months, I decided to cut it from the 3mm stuff. I understand now why it's a money box and not just an ordinary box - it's a b*&^%$ to put together and I reckon you have to break it to get it apart. It also makes a great little drum. No sanding or any other finishing done, it's staying as it is and I am keeping it just so people will wonder what it is, especially seeing as I didn't bother putting a money slot in it. :D

Lovely job Martin. When I first saw the plan I could not make out how it all went together, now I see the light and will make one tomorrow.

Geoff, I thought I would be able to make the slots a bit bigger in one piece, then rotate the piece into place to make a top that could be removed. No chance, you have twist and bend the ply to get it all together. With the more robust BB ply, it might come apart again without breaking, though I reckon it'd be easier to take a hammer to it.
