This time it was the cherry's turn...
from this:
...to a fairly ordinary practice piece to try and get my bowl gouge technique sorted
14.5 cm diameter, finished with sealer and woodwax.
Then I fancied something a wee bit more fun, so took a piece from the equally manky elder log and came up with this:
8.5cm x 5cm high, partly hand-sanded, finished with sealer and Speedaneez white friction polish (from a 40 yr-old bottle!)
This wood is so variable in density that I had a real fun job getting it smooth.
Since getting the bargain box of Record bits at the club last night, I now have a smaller recessed chuck mount, so put it to use on this one.
Only a couple more pieces of this amazing wood left now...
