This will be a simple one for you guys to answer, and i`m pretty sure i know the answer already but i have this little nagging doubt about my own ability.
Do you apply sanding sealer before using Danish oil or afterwards ?

And while i`m here , do you use sanding sealer before or after staining ?

Simple and elementary to a lot of you guys but i`m in mental block mode.

Nothing new there then.

Thanks,

Piggy

Yes definitely before. Also if it is a softwood like Pine it want's to go on before the stain as this stops it sinking in too far and evens out the stain. HTH.

Thanks and believe it or not, `before` is what i was thinking. It does make sense doesn`t it. My project is in oak, first time i`ve used it, so i wont be using wire wool, i`ll stick with some scotchbrite or similar.
Lord Nibbo, the project you made in walnut looks superb. I particularly like the chamfered face frame. SWMBO particularly likes the dogs, they look like Newfies ?
I wil try to post some pics when its all finished.
Thanks once again.

Piggy.
