I've used a flush cutting bit on a countertop I made. If memory serves it was 1.2mm ali, and normal carbide tip bit worked a charm on it. Nice crisp flush cut achieved.
 
I have cut a slot and rounded over 8mm ali with carbide router cutters.

A milling cutter from an engineering supplies outlet would probably be cheaper and less likely to chip?
