So after baiting and trapping they still persist
Bloody rats

Thinking of looking at buying electronic repeller

Ought better for stopping em getting in the loft?

Never hear em in the cavity, only when they pop out onto the ceiling above the bedroom so I guess they are coming up through next doors (semi) walls :?

And while we are at it summat for the cats in the garden

Cheers

Shame because I was going to suggest a cat :? So how about a jack Russell instead :D there great for ratting and they'll also chase the cats!

Not sure about the rodent jobbie, but we have got an ultra sonic thing for our garden to see if it would stop the local cats using our gravel drive as a crapper! It seems to have worked too.

Something else that stops them, and I am being serious for once. Empty clear plastic bottles, tonic/lemonade/etc. filled with water and stood close to where you don't want them. I thought my leg was being pullled when I first heard it, but I put a couple next to a bird bath on a stone wall in thegarden. The cats used to wait in the rosemary for them to come to bathe. Now they don't. I appears that the bottles give them a reflection that they don't like and they steer clear of them.

Something else that makes cats VERY wary in our garden is when a stone goes past their heads at best part of 100 mph after it's left my catapault. I don't ever aim to hit them, but did you know that a cat accelerates from a staanding start to about 60 mph in 1/4 second when that happens

Just had a look, and before you try fleeebay have a look at this

Andy, we have a couple of these. Had them for a while. When they first went up into the loft we didn't get any more rats (IIRC) but although they are still giving an audible signal, not sure if they are still working ultrasonically as we do have rats. I leave a load of poison up there and eventually they succumb.

After ten years desiccation, this is what I found recently. Perfectly preserved and all the bones still joined to each other (just)

It's a problem I've had to deal with in a big way, at my previous house which was a semi detached... the house next door had been vacant for a while but when it was bought the new owner gutted the place to remodel it so naturally then moved into mine however the kitchen was on the detached side and that's where they came through before spreading around the house... in their, well it was never ending till we moved.

Now been in the new house for two years... well it's happened again, thankfully the builders seem to take joy in finding and getting rid of them but sadly some have made it into the kitchen AGAIN but only a few, hopefully it won't be for long as the builders will soon be working on this house.

In this time I've tried all the usual things with varying effects.

My partner is a bit weird in the way she can learn their routine and knows when a new one has come in... she is so weird like this we usually find ourselves moving furniture so somewhere along its path it becomes trapped however this is usually late at night which is not the best solution for us or anyone.

Cheers for the input folks

Think I will get one off the bay and give it a try.
They do say money back guarantee 8)

Rats - have you looked for the access point? broken drain covers, air vents etc. Where we found holes in brickwork we tried covering it with mesh but they just pulled it out; concrete or mortar just got raked out overnight so a pest controller mate suggested filler foam laced with rat poison ; they tired raking it out but never finished the job....

Cats are my pet hate, nasty destructive creatures - if they are coming into the garden find their access put and put down dead holly leaves; they hate it. If thats no good due to wind try a large mirror on the ground, they seem to dislike that too. After that its down to catching them, chuck them in a burlap or hessian sack and give them a few twirls around your head; they tend not to come back for a second visit! And before any cat lovers want to complain?, keep your pet under control and they'll be safe!

They killed most of my fish despite covering the pond with mesh to the point we eventually filled the pond in
They defecate in my flower beds
Worse than that they defecate in my vegetable plot resulting in whole crops/months of work having to be thrown away
They have pretty much decimated the wild songbirds along my road
MK doesn't have wheely bins only bin bags; they rip them open given the chance
They fight each other under my bedroom window most summer nights
They come into the house unless you keep all the windows/doors shut in the summer
I'm allergic to their fur
They jump up onto my car bonnet to keep warm and scratch the paintwork
The local tomcat sprays my front door 5-6 times per year
One almost took my grandaughters eye out when she tried to stroke it
On average I find their owners couldn't care less what their 'pets' get upto and only suggest I should get my own cat!

Other than that they are delightful creatures

But apart from tha FB, what's wrong with cats??

Just think what the reaction would be if you just let your dog do a tiny bit of what cats do and they went into your neighbours garden regularly and used it as their toilet! All of a sudden it would be an intrusion, but a bleedin cat can go where it wants, do what it wants and that's natural and the owners not only don't give two short pony poos but also have the law on their side!!Basically they are just accepted rodents, at least by some people, but not me (hammer) And if they then went on to kill the neighbours cat in their own garden all hell would let loose!

We also feed the birds and encourage them into our garden, but not for the entertainment, because that's all it is, of these animals and if I see them my namesake, cat-apault, comes out and they don't srf disapear quickly with a stone going past them at very high speed, as I have said before!

I would not hurt them, but I don't like cats!!!!! They sense that when they are around me too!

Don't get caught, you'll find yourself in serious trouble.

We haven't been to Cavanac for about 6 weeks now. No reason to stay in the hotel of course. It's about 20/25 mins from here. The restaurant is a cracker and for 45€ you get a 5 course meal and all the wine you want. Red, rosé and white and if you finish any another bottle appears, as if by magique =D> =D>

They even do a very good veggy meal, my sis-in-law is one of those   Crackin place

Sorry, a tad of sujet here

Well it seems to be working
Not got it plugged in yet but since I pressed the "BIN" button I aint heard a peep
