thinking of treating myself to a new ROS I was looking at the Makita BO6030 model just wondered how it performs and how it compares against other models ie bosch & metabo.??????????

I would seriously suggest to go for the Metabo SXE450 instead with dual orbits, same price, probably even better quality than the makita.
Got its AEG clone for £40 used and can't recommend it enough,

I've got the BO6030 and can't fault it. Extremely well built, powerful, can remove material quickly, leaves a good finish and when hooked up to my shop vac leaves very little dust. All without the extra weight and mechanisms that can go wrong that come with a geared sander. What's not to like?

I've not used the Makita but the Metabo SXE 450 is a popular choice and I'd buy the same again without a doubt. An excellent machine IMO.

Hi John

I've got a DeWalt D26453-GB 230V. It's only 125mm dia but it has served me well. It's £110 from Screwfix.
