Easy, cost of materials, plus the time it will take at your hourly rate, and a % on top for workshop costs. Surely a professional would know this ?

I really don't think you are going to damage market prices, how many are you making, I suppose if it's a few thousand then it might impact a bit on bespoke kids beds market....... lucky for me I'm in kitchens Pheww.

If it's one and your a pro why are you asking a group of mainly keen amateur woodworkers who would have no idea of your overheads.

Hi Gaby77,

Welcome to the forum :D

Unfortunately its hard to give a price since it needs to be based on your hourly rate and the job specification. It looks like s/w, maybe 5ths but is it supplied with a finish and is it fitted?

If I had to guess, I would say 2 days work plus materials and profit, maybe in the region of £650 to £850.

What did you have in mind?

Thanks for ur time. I'm not good as u ,but I can do staff
Thanks Robin. I'm think it will take me about 7 days. Rustic wood are have to he cleaned. Plus oiling and kid safety.
I did one shop fitting and was told off by 1 builder by saying that I gave cheap price and damage market prices.

Hi Gabby, i take it from your grammer and inexperience of UK market rates that you are new to the UK and that your "builder" that complained was annoed because he considered you too cheap?

well thats market forces and life! the JIB who set pay rates for the trades reccomend a rate of about £450/week for crafts people, but thats as an employee. Iff your self employed you have other overheads to consider.

Rates charged will vary depending on which part of the country you live in. if you live and work in the midlands, i personally think that a daily rate of somewhere between £150-£200 is a reasonable rate.

Others will not agree with what ive said and it depends on your personal situation and how busy you are if your fully booked then put your rates up a little, if youve got no work then drop them accordingly. Its not easy to get it right to begin with but youll get there.

Try to avoid bargin hunters and people who expect "mates rates" and just provide a good service at a reasonable price.

Hope that helps and good luck with your business.

Mark

Hi Gaby, I guess it is going to be more elaborate than the picture, which looks like a load 6" × 1" screwed together. If you think it will be 7 days then x by your daily rate + materials + margin on materials + overheads if your day rate doesnt include it. If you need the work because you arent busy then alter your day rate accordingly. Dont try and price based on what you think the customer wants to pay for it -you will end up working for nothing then. It is a bespoke product and wont compare to something off the shelf.

Ignore the builder that wasnt happy, dont be influenced by other people - some tradesmen in this country are annoyed by the influx of Eastern European builders, my experience though is that most Ive met or worked with are polite, very hard working and very skilled.

If you get the job, post some pictures on here, we all like work in progress shots.

Hi Gaby just like RobinBHM I`LL take a guess that your not from the U.K. Just be aware for every body's benefit that in the English language there is a difference between a quote and a estimate. Check it out.
