Does anyone know if the Katsu/Makita knock off plunge bases will fit the bosch GKF600 router? They are about half the price so would be a nice little saving if so.

If not, I am trying to decide whether to sell the GKF600 and buy a full katsu kit instead?

Superb little router, I've had one for years.

Always fancied trying the plunge base.

Surely the way the router twist-locks into the base would be specific to Bosch? Maybe?

I have the Makita kit including the plunge base, can't offhand remember the model no but don't know anyone with the Bosch to try the base on, pity you're at the other end of the country!

Edit: It's the 700 CX2 kit

I have no idea on the mounting method for the Bosch, or the Katsu/Makita for that matter. Want to do my research so I can (hopefully) make the right decision.

Can post some close up pics and info on the Makita over the weekend if you need it.

I might take you up on that offer but don't put yourself out yet, I am in no rush to do my research so will explore other avenues/forums first, ideally finding a GKf600 owner.

I've got both routers (don't ask) and have just been out to the workshop to check.
Assuming you are talking about the Makita RT0700, no the plunge base will not fit the Bosch GKF600. Apart from anything else, the Bosch is a few mm larger in diameter than the Makita.

Brilliant, or rather not, lol. Just the information I needed though.

Now since you have both, which is better?

I don't use routers a great deal, so this is definitely not an expert opinion, but the bottom line is that I had intended selling the Bosch when I got the Makita but never did so as it has its benefits over the Makita.
I tend to use the Makita more than the Bosch simply because I have a plunge base for the Makita which is handy on occasion.
Used for fixed base work they are both good although the Makita has (rarely used) variable speed.
The Bosch has a bit more power and has a nice extended base which is useful, although you can always make your own of course.
Both routers have a basic pressed steel fence but my Makita also has an optional extra proper fence which was one of the reasons I bought it. In fact the fence is more or less redundant as the fence off my 1100W deWalt router fits perfectly!
Dust collection on both is much the same.
The Makita lock button for changing bits is said to be prone to breakage of the casting so I always use two spanners, one on the spindle flats, and one on the collet nut.
The Bosch has a longer power cable.
Not sure if that helps or confuses!
