I think I've read nearly every post in the woodturning section - that doesn't mean that I'll remember them, just that I've read them. :)

Hi all. My first post so I thought I would try and be helpful.

My local club, Wowa (thought I'd better give them a plug) West Oxon Woodturning Association - http://www.wowa.org.uk/ had Phil Irons as the demonstrator earlier this week.

He is currently selling the small Vicmarc lever chuck @ £55.70 + p&p
N.B. Direct thread (no insert) 3/4"x16tpi only.
Apparently they were made for the 'green & yellow' tool company who no longer wanted them (am I allowed to say that mr moderator?)

For anyone wanting a cheap small chuck or (as I did) a 2nd one, this is ideal. It also gave me a decent screw chuck thread which I was lacking.

I also bought a 'Stem Sharpener' for holding those funny shaped replacable scraper tips on the Sorby/ Hamlet/Crown multi-tip scraper and at £7.50 it's not worth trying to make one. I mention it not only because of the price but because it's the first time that I've seen one.

Welcome wasbit, if you've read all the posts in this section your a better man than me.

Hello Wasbit and welcome :D
How long did it take you to read all the posts
Paul.J.

I've been lurking and reading on and off since mid summer around the time when Chas held his open day .... cursing the fact that I'd just missed it.
