Peter Child woodburning on poplar?

Just got mine and so excited! Tried it out on maple and am getting the hang of doing it lightly so it doesn't make blobs, but can't get it to be blob-free on the poplar. Any tips or tricks? I'm using the point that was already on it. Maybe a different type of point? Really low heat?

Hi Ives, is it a wire or solid tip I find a tip thats less pointy helps, with less heat. But then again I'm pretty new to it asswell

It's a wire tip.
