Peg tooth saw blade?

This may be a daft question, but what exactly is a peg toothed circular saw blade? It was mentioned in passing the other day, and I'm not 100% sure.

Even rake on both edges, ie, pointed. Usually seen on woodsman's bow saws and the like.
