I'm forever picking up odd bits of 'good' wood that are on the verge of being burnt or disposed of in someway. Tonight I came across what I thought was a parquet block with hard pitch type substance on one face, but it also has dowel holes in the sides. Two on each long side and one on each end (one c/w dowel). Did they have such things? I can't see what sort of pattern could be achieved with the holes where they are?

Cheers.

just laid 80 square meters of parquet that had the dowels. As Dick said they would be a pain to lay if we hadnt taken out the dowels first!!

Herringbone was the style. I'll see if I can take some pics.
