Novel 1980s fancy dress ideas?

I have a friends 40th party to go to in a few weeks and he has gone with an 80s themed fancy dress night. I have done a bit of googling but cannot come up with a novel idea. The ones that make me chuckle so far are

HeMan
Ghostbusters
Magnum pi
Rambo

You can even get a Jimmy Saville outfit, but was quite surprised that it was not on special offer.

I am looking for something really funny and authentic, so as to ensure I don't turn up dressed like everyone else.

I dressed up as David Bowie from the labyrinth. White long johns dyed black, white v-neck pirate shirt, Tina turner wig, gloves, loads of makeup.

Just an idea regards with what to clothes styles were around look at what the music/singers were wearing should give you a good idea on what was and what was not, if you see what I am tying to say.

I'd just go cheap and wear Dunlop green flashes with jeans and a white t-shirt and suit jacket with the sleeves rolled up.

If you want to be a famous person then Mr. T, Karate Kid or Michael Jackson would be easy enough. Or you could go the whole hog and do Boy George.

Joking a side with my last post Anima cool for you to post a photo. I don't seen to have any to post. There seemed to be a problem with either the film would melt before it was developed or the camera never worked properly.
