New to wood turning

Hi
I was wondering if anyone can help,being new to all this but very interested I got hold of an Apollo Woodpecker lathe cpl with stand and some tools etc,firstly are these lathes any good for a beginner and if so can someone tell me where I might be able to get an instruction manual,
I am also looking to find out what thread the headstock is and how do I know what size the mt(morse taper) is.i know I am asking a lot but if you don't ask.

Count the number of threads per inch or millimetre pitch, measure the diameter and compare with the listed 'standards'

not one I have heard of but a quick google gets the following...

which both suggest that its a 2MT 25mm x 2mm

and from a 2007 post by blister the details for Apollo at the time are/ were...

If it is 25mm by 2mm, that's the same as the old Tyme Avon, which just might help in sourcing accessories.
