Johnluc,

I have used a Jet lathe, although I have no idea which model it was. I've had 3 days on them whilst at training courses at Just Wood in Ayr. The lathes have sufficient capacity to turn a 14 inch bowl over the bed. My previous experiences are of a Record DML lathe, and the difference was amazing. The variability of speed was by about 10 preset gears (no belt changing), with a good selection of gears around the low end. All kinds of convenient things like a stop to return the head after swivelling, a button to hold the spindle to remove the chuck. All in all I thought that it was a pretty good lathe (although I'm still managing fine with the Record, and no thoughts of upgrading in the near future).

Cheers,

Dod
