Hello All,

I've been given a few bundles of Burr Walnut Veneer that has been left outside in the rain for months. It had visible mould on some leafs so i wiped it off and clamped it between some MDF.

I now want to use it and there is still some mould, Will further wiping help, can i treat it or is it no good to use?

Any advice would be much appreciated, it's some really nice burr so I'm reluctant to chuck it, but i don't want to make mouldy furniture!

Matt

Try a solution of Bicarbonate of Soda (Baking powder) in water. Lots of info via google

Chuck it out and get some veneer that's been properly stored.

You'll be investing a lot of your time in a veneering project, not to mention the cost of the substrate materials, it's likely that the mould is just the start of the problems you'll have with this veneer, not worth the risk IMO.
