A number of scrollers have been given the Mentora dragon pattern from Chrestensen Burghout Designs. I cut mine out of 18 mm MDF, then sprayed it with metallic paint. The photograph doesn't do the shimmering of the metallic paint justice, proving once again what a rotten photographer I am .
The pattern was printed on coloured paper to minimise glare. Next, it was applied to a piece of MDF using artists removable spray mount adhesive and cut into segments. Once the segmentation was complete, the pattern was removed.
The segments were shaped with sandpaper and a Dremel multi-tool.
The segments were individually painted with an acrylic undercoat then sprayed with metallic aerosols. Finally they were glued together and mounted onto a backing piece of hardboard.
