I've been having a tidy up this afternoon. I've not been able to face going through what's left of my stuff, but today I bit the bullet.
I am delighted to report that I have found an oilpad that I thought was amongst the stuff stolen. Why is this significant enough to post about it? Well this oilpad was my granddad's. It was an old hat of his, rolled up and squeezed into a tobacco tin. The point is that I thought I no longer had anything that was his, but I do! It might be just an oilpad, but it is the most beautiful oilpad in the world.

Happy bunny.

That's nice to hear Steve - little things can hold enormous value.

There it is........

Hope all goes well from now on Steve.

It's the little things that make the difference.

I'm happy for you Steve. I know how even small, apparently insignificant, things can be so important when they link you to the past. I have my old grandad's miners lamp and wouldn't part with it for a fortune.

Great news. And goes to show that material possessions can have a value far higher than the material costs.

Excellent news Steve.
I can imagine what that means to you. I have my grandads old pocket watch and feel the same way.

Really pleased for you Steve. First time I ever saw one of those was on one of your DVDs.

Isn't it "funny" how little seemingly trivial items attain great importance if they're heirlooms? My Dad left me several items when he died and I guess if you ever saw them in a car boot sale you'd pass over them immediately but I wouldn't part for them, not ever.

Though I'm far from ready yet (I hope!), one thing that's really beginning to bother me is that when I pop my clogs I have no one to leave my tools too. I've thought about leaving them to something like Mens' Sheds but being reasonably far away from UK it hardly seems practical. (Sorry, subject drift).

Really pleased for you Steve - "onward and upward" as the saying goes.
