I have this hair brained idea for a cot
it will be a WIP if i stop planning and actually get on with the build
the design is flat packed..sort of..and adaptable.....sort of

I attach pic in hope it may assist with help req.

style is not too old fashioned but will be brass fittings

i want to be able to remove A from B without seeing the threaded inserts in A
so my plan was to use a length of brass flat profile rebated into A
B would be screwed to A with machine screws (brass)
remove B and leave A
replace longer screws that hold A-B with shorter countersunk screws to hold brass flat profile to A

how thick of brass needed to countersink #8 screws?
getting brass this long is an issue it seems
brass profile would be 3\8" x 1\4" x 6'

any other ideas to hide the threaded inserts ?

i know i need to get out more :D
please be patient with me...I have all these ideas and never sure of best approach

Hi

Is the brass integral to the aesthetic of the piece or just your current proposal for a solution?

If the brass is not essential I'd consider mirror screw covers to conceal the threaded inserts when item B is removed

You would need to match the threads with adaptors but not insurmountable.

Regards Mick
sounds a plan to investigate..must be brass with m6 thread though
