at the left hand side of screen bottom there is the facility to put the human to the river and travel down the Colorado inside the Grand Canyon and its a free ride.

I wanted to do something different and memorable for my 50th and ended up spending nearly 3 weeks rafting down the canyon!

An absolutely fantastic time camping on the 'beaches' on the way down. Soiled my underwear more than once on some of the rapids that were probably the scariest things I've done ever.

What memories!

I would not even attempt to take the trail down to the river at that age.

Ace, that's something I would like to do. Many years ago I walked from the rim to the river and back.

Didn't have to walk down the trail (Bright Angel) as we put in at the 'top' of the canyon by Lees Ferry. This meant the canyon 'grew' as we went deeper in.

You could be as adventurous as you liked with the exception of the rapids of course! Some of the hiking was exceptional but I was a lot fitter then.

I was braver than you lot, I sat on a rock edge and there was nothing under me than the bottom thousands of feet below.
I had to sit on the edge because although I got there 2 hours before sunset more visitors would creep ahead of me so I had to take the edge in the end.

No we didn't, - we put in below there.

It's Lake Powell that controls the flow of water down the canyon. Depending on the hydro electric requirements downstream the flow varies. Can get a bit hairy especially if there's been some rain fall as well.
