gec swicth on a dewalt radial arm saw

hello every one, I have just got a dewalt 125 radial arm saw, and it has got a gec control box on it with the green and red button on it but mine the red button is broke and it is playing up can you take this of and just put a plug start on it. its a 1.25hp 240v some one must be able to help please
