I'm pretty sure you'd need 4 of those to make a cubic foot.

If it were 1440mm long, 300mm wide and 25mm thick that should be a cubic foot, though it's obviously easier to do cubic feet in inches than in mm.

Ooo yes, i got the length wrong. I mean 3600 x 300 x 25mm, so of course you're right, twice as long and half the width is the same, yours is a cubic foot too.
 
A cubic foot is 1" x 12" x 144" metric equivalent is 25mm x 305mm x 3700 so basically the op is correct, allowing for a little metric / imperial conversion wasteage
 
I think of cubic measure of wood this way.
Imagine a square 12" wide x 12 high.
Take the end section of the wood - in this case 6" x 1" and see how many times it would fit into the square
In this case, two stacks of 12 boards stacked on the 1" dimension would fill it.

So 2 x 12 =24 foot of 6" x 1" will be 1 cubic ft. 24 foot is 8 yards which is about 7 metres.
